Looking to improve your WordPress blog or website? If you have a blog or wordpress.org website then you need to make sure you get some great WordPress Plugins to help with your security as well as just generally making your blog look better and so many things much simpler!
So here are my recommendations for ‘must have plugins’
This is by far the best free anti-spam plugin I have found. If you are allowing comments on your posts then it’s really important that you have this installed. I can’t tell you how many spam comments I get on a daily basis!
If you are planning on using Amazon Associates to sell products on your blog then this one is a must! Before this plus in adding products with your affiliate code was a long process. Now with this plugin you simply setup your account in the settings and then when you are writing a post you can just search in the little box at the top of the page. Once you have found the product you click insert and it’s as simple as that.
After a very close call with looking my whole site a few months back, I will NEVER not have a backup program installed. This one is free. Get it, and use it! The last things you need is a technical issue and you lose your whole site!
This one is more for the travel bloggers! It’s a great tool to have and you can customize it so that it populates the search box with the place you are writing about in your post.
This is another affiliate program. They have a wide range of companies who they work with. It’s really simple to setup your account with them. Then download and activate this plugin. Once it’s all set up it will track and links people click on. The great thing about this is that you don’t need to use any specific affiliate link. This plugin does it all for you!
I have this installed and it’s one of my monthly jobs to check. This is a piece of software that will check for any broken links on your site. Check it regularly and fix the broken links so your site is working 100%.
These are a must! If you don’t have a template that gives you the option to enter the code in the header or footer then you need this plugin! You will need this to enter tracking code from Google Analytics and the Facebook pixel, as well as other things.
Yes it takes up a lot of space and it’s a bit annoying but it’s a must. It will give you the ability to easily schedule and social share all of your posts. I haven’t found anything to match it that’s as easy to use yet.
This gives you some really nice social sharing buttons on each page and post.
This one is a technical one which according to them “improves the user experience of your site by improving your server performance, caching every aspect of your site, reducing the download times and providing transparent content delivery network (CDN) integration.”
I live this one! i\If like me, ou have affiliate links I use this to have a standard message on each blog post at the end with my disclosure information. Saves me time and it’s also one less thing to think about!
This is a free plugin that gives you some added security against hackers.
This reduces the size of your images. Great if you will have a lot of images on your site.
This is another technical one that keeps your database clean. It will help with your speed.
This plugin will add links to other pages on your site at the end of each post that the viewer might like helping to keep them on your site for longer.
This is quite possibly my favorite plugin. SEO is a bit of a minefield. And although there is a lot more to it than just keywords this plugin will help you make sure that every post you write is passes the SEO guidelines. It will check your writing to make sure it’s easy to read as well as letting you enter keywords and a description. It gives each post a red, amber or green score. Ideally you want everything on your website at a green!
